Poetic Education

Related to what we teach our students is how we teach the material of study. Christian worship is the integration of the world into the life of our Triune God. As Trinitarians, we are seeking to study the world and history in terms of story, dance, and drama. We hope to continue freeing ourselves from the paganism and polytheism of antiquity, particularly as we study the world as created, sustained, and indwelled by Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe the world is best understood as one and many, even as our God is Holy Trinity. Thus, it is a high priority to educate worshippers who love relationships. We want artificial categories and compartments no more than we want individualists. We want metaphor and chiasm, even as we strive to live out our faith in covenant. As covenant community is personal and relational, so too is the study of music, literature, science, mathematics, history, and writing. We hope to grow up into a maturity that does not know how to study anything in isolation. For this reason Atlas School seeks to study in a poetic fashion, seeing every area of study as united and sustained by the Triune God.
