Worship Centered Education

At the center of history is the Incarnation: the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. This historical event has changed the world forever. The perfect and holy community of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit condescended to this world and brought man once again into that Triune fellowship. Thus the central act in response to this supreme kindness of God is joyful and humble worship. Christian worship on the Lord’s Day is the pinnacle of humanity. It is our ascension into the heavenly places and a joyful, interwoven service of covenant renewal.

Because of the centrality of the Incarnation, every human act is in some way a response to that historical event. Learning is no exception. How and what we study, teach, and learn is a response to God’s kindness to us in Jesus. This is another way of saying that education is never neutral. It always seeks to raise children to the highest good of society. There is always a god to be feared whether it is science, humanity, money, power, or even impersonal truth. Thus education always teaches how one is to serve and ultimately worship the god(s) of society. As Christians we cheerfully acknowledge this to be inescapably true. Therefore Atlas School determines to make the worship of the Triune God our foundation of study.
