Holberton Tulsa strives to be a welcoming, uplifting place in no small part due to the many amazing students who work together to build this community. Students can nominate their fellow peers for going above and beyond in their coursework and support of their fellow classmates. This month, we’re recognizing Zach Wilsterman for upholding Holberton’s values and helps foster an environment conducive to learning and personal/professional growth.
Here’s what Zach had to say about studying at Holberton.
Zach: I was dissatisfied in my career and felt like I was struggling to live up to my potential. A friend of mine suggested Holberton, and the rest is history. I had always dreamed of career where I was valued for my mind rather than physical labor, and now with programming I can apply my analytical thinking and problem solving abilities to great effect.
Zach: I am in the Machine Learning program. Even though I have not yet started the specialization courses, I am excited about ML because of its infinite possibilities. It is very young in its research and application, and it’s being used in new applications every day. I look forward to being a part of the generation of programmers that will get to discover and implement it throughout the tech industry and beyond.
Zach: I love the community of Holberton students. It is amazing to be around so many intelligent, hard-working, and like-minded people. When I don’t understand a concept, or need assistance on schoolwork, I know that there will always someone who is more than happy to take time out of their day to help. The school and curriculum do a great job of fostering a welcoming, motivating environment where the students lift each other up and are excited each other’s successes. I know that I have already made many life-long friends, and created a network of peers who will continue to look after each other in our future endeavors.
